Driving in Germany with epilepsy
Hi, does anyone know the law in Germany for driving a car as an epileptic?
Specifically how long do you have to be siezure free if you have awake and asleep siezures?
Do the German doctors ask for proof from your UK GP if you are moving out to Germany?
Thanks

Epilepsie im Alltag
(click on Epilepsie und Führerschein)
according to which a specialist decides whether or not an epileptic patient who he/she is treating, is capable of driving. An annual examination is involved and if the patient is seizure-free for more than a year, the periods between examinations may be extended.
So, yes, a report from a UK specialist will help the German specialist to decide on the frequency of examinations after his/her preliminary examination, and whether and when to give you the green light to drive.
Hope this is of some help!
