Brexit: Can we still mov to germany?
Hi, I'm newbie here. We are thinking of buying a property in Germany and move live there. But due to brexit and article 50 already triggered, what are our chances? Does anyone know if we still have the right of movement and right of living to any eu country like Germany? as this is new complete move for us ,any advice will be much appreciated, we are thinking of living in Saxony Germany,is living there cheaper than other parts?
thank you for in advance.

The UK hasn't left the European Onion yet. Triggering Article 50 was the start of the process but the actual exit won't happen for more than a year, two years after Article 50 was triggered, therefore in the Spring of 2019. So you still have time, but you should leave enough time to establish residence in Germany before the UK leave the EO, otherwise your pans might end up thwarted.

Why do you wish to buy property in Saxony and not in another part? Just curious: why do you want to move to Germany?
Ppl moved to and from the continent prior to free movement. I doubt you would be told to leave after the magic date but you may be required to apply for a resident permit.

If you plan to work to support yourselves you will probably need a work permit as well as permission to reside in the Federal Republic. I would not expect any concessions on language if you cannot communicate in fluent "Buerokratendeutsch". That is the specialised register of German that bureaucrats use to communicate with citizens and luckless foreigners.

I, too, wonder why you're thinking of Saxony in former East Germany. There are nicer, or more dynamic, places....
Do you speak German? I, too, believe that at least a basic knowledge is essential in order to cope with bureaucracy and everyday life. Not every one speaks English, maybe even less so in the former DDR.
Will you be seeking work? What about your healthcare coverage if you aren't in receipt of a UK State Pension?
Just a few aspects to give you food for thought!

I like Saxony and first visited Dresden in 1964. I will be heading back for a holiday there this year, if my plans work out - but do not expect an easy ride if you are going there to live and work.
My interest was awakened by reading Irving's book about the destruction of that city in February 1945.

I too like Saxony. It is a beautiful area with interesting history and great cities.

I think after Brexit you will probably need to apply for a visa. You won't get a visa unless you have more than enough money. Also you would need to get private health insurance which is expensive too. If you like ask a few health insurance companies in Germany what rates they have for retirees from Non-EU countries. Might give you an idea about possible costs.
If you can move before Brexit. It is still risky though. I wouldn't burn all bridges to the UK. If you own a house in the UK don't sell it until the full impact of Brexit will be known.

A lot will depend on what you wish to do. You mention moving to Saxony to buy a property to live in. Will you work, study, retire or are you independently wealthy? Even under EU/EEA Freedom of Movement rules the ability to live in another member state is not a completely unqualified right and your access to public services will dependent on your status.
