I just wanted to revisit this thread for the purposes of closure.

I did end up buying a French registered LHD in the UK and used it to move my chattels to Narbonne.

I had no problems getting the car insured, with a French insurer.

The car sailed through the CT, and I had no problems with getting the new Carte Grise (once I figured out the necessary forms.)

So all is good in this hood.

Good for you! It's always pleasing when we get feed-back, especially positive which could well help others, rather than leaving a thread to die an unatural, unfinished ending.
