Re: Useful French Phrases
On ne me la fait pas à moi - I wasn't born yesterday
J'en voudrais trois s'il vous plait - I'd like three of those please
..et avec ceci? - Anything else?
J'ai plus un rond - I'm totally skint
J'ai plus un rond, il y a pas à tortiller, il faut que je cherche du travail
(I'm totally skint, there are no two ways about it now, I'm just gonna have to look for a job)

Re: Useful French Phrases
Ce n'est pas la peine de faire - There's hardly any point in doing it
Quel con! - What a tw*t
Il (ne) reste plus du bière/vin - There's no more beer/wine left
J'ai de la peine - I'm upset
J'ai fait de la peine à quelq'un - I've upset someone
Elle m'a fait de la peine - She's upset me
Il faudra bien nous en se débrouiller - We'll have to sort it out
Je peux vous débrouiller en francais - I can teach you the basics in French
Pourriez-vous me débrouiller en francais - Could you teach me the basics in french?

Re: Useful French Phrases
What about:
Je ne peux pas le/la voir dans une peinture.
.........Can't stand him or her even in (as) a painting.
C'est kif kif
------It's six of one and half dozen of another.
C'est du bonnet blanc et du blanc bonnet.
.........Six of one and half dozen of another.
Je pedale dans la choucroute. (Should be a acute (accent aigue) accent over the e in pedale but can't find it.)
...........I am getting nowhere.
Ca vol bas!
...........Means literally that it is flying low. Would say that about perhaps a poor TV programme; bad taste; the IQ of somebody even, meaning that they are intellectually challenged.
............C'est a ras les paquerettes. Means it's something at the level of the daisies. Again low level.
Plus ca change.....
............The more it changes the more it stays the same..
Could say that of a politican after hearing yet another of their speeches saying the same thing...
Sorry about the lack of accents.

Soit l'un soit l'autre - One or the other
L'un et l'autre - Both of them
L'un l'autre - One another
L'un ou l'autre - One or the other
Ni l'un ni l'autre - Neither
..a few useful ones.

Je ne fais plus... - I no longer do / I don't do anymore
Je ne fais rien...- I do nothing / I don't do anything
Je ne fais guère...- I hardly do...
Je ne fais que... - I only do...
Je ne vois personne - I can't see anyone
et voila...

Some new ones:
J'ai la tête dans le cul (My head is on my ass)= I am horribly tired
ça craint! / tu crains= it sucks/ you suck
c'est pas demain la veille que ça arrivera= it will never happen
truc/bidule/machin= useful words when you don't know or remember something's name.
I saw some alchohol users in this forum, so these ones are for you
lâcher un renard= to vomit
cadavre= emptied bottle of alcohol
aller un dernier pour la route!= a last glass before I leave!
Tavernier! à boire ou je tue le chien!= Give a drink or I kill the dog! (tavernier=tavern owner)
Il fait soif (instead of j'ai soif)
Et voilà, enjoy!
