If it's for a specific job you'd probably be better off buying one in France then selling it on, given the problems of getting it here and the major loss you will likely suffer when selling it that will almost certainly work out cheaper in the end.

It will need insuring regardless which itself may prove difficult and without French registration your potential market for selling it will be extremely limited.
