Talking retiring to the south of france

we would like to retire to the south of france but not sure the best location. looking for advice on the best areas for the sun and relaxation, also looking for an area outside the big city's but close enough to travel to. any info would be gratefully accepted.

think about Languedoc.

Thanks Peter, at least this gives me something to go on and a starting point. Is this where you have visited or lived? Any further info on the area itself would be nice and now i have somewhere to check out Thanks again.
