Re: New Zealand or France??????
Just for the record, NovoC has been an extremely valuable source of information on this and other BE forums for over 10 years, and where appropriate hasn't hesitated to send helpful PM's to those requiring additional information.

I'm sure he does, 27K posts or whatever it is shows that. However, here he basically called the OP a liar and since she is new, I thought that was off.

Novo doesn't need any one to defend him, but I felt like keeping his reputation intact!
P.S. Posted before I saw TP's post, and the alleged accusation of the OP being a liar. This is the last thing I would have thought of, on reading his post....

Re: New Zealand or France??????
who is that aimed at?
I'm assuming me. I would hope that I'm wrong.
I'm assuming not Novocastrian either since he didn't help at all in this thread in spite of all his amazing, relevant experience. Not once.
This was it.

So, Granny Bunz I think that you should take your own advice.
OP sorry about all this.
Maybe the gentleman in question will come along and tell us that we totally misunderstood what he wrote.

Re: New Zealand or France??????
It seems to me that the OP wasn't aware of BE's occasional habit of attracting irreverent and/or marginally relevant posts; no harm is meant by either. Otherwise I don't see much on this thread for anyone to get their knickers in a twist over.

Which one? (There are climate records available easily on the interwebby) but the coldest winter temperature I can find during the available records was -21C in Alston in Jan.1982.
I wonder pf if you know what the adiabatic lapse rate is?

Oh, sorry to have caused such a fuss. The OP has struggled through -20 in a caravan? Very well. She lives in one of the highest villages in England?. Very well.

My point exactly. The highest elevation in Northumberland is the (uninhabited) peak of Cheviot at 812 m. Being in one of the highest villages isn't really a very big deal in terms of winter temperatures.

I live in Allenheads which I believe is 400ft higher than Alston. Despite what the records show if there is any at all for Allenheads my car temp gauge said -19 while we were travelling back from my sons Christingle in Dec I believe it was 2010.

Re: New Zealand or France??????
I would not have cared if she had written -50C. After having lived in Scotland for 8 years, I can totally understand why she would want to move somewhere warmer. It is miserable being there with small kids, never mind being in a caravan with them.
Sorry Novocastrian but your contribution to this thread is less than stellar.
