For all those expats living full-time or part-time in France, what are the 5 things you hate most about the UK?

if you think the cost of living is expensive in the UK think you may be in for a bit of a shock in France!!. Housing too in certain areas now!

So my 5 things

1. the ridiculous approach to alcohol; only if I'm drunk have I had a good evening
2. the problem of obesity (though this is coming to France)
3. the pace of life (mine has changed in France though in fairness I could maybe have achieved this in the uk by halving my hours as I did here)
4. the weather
5. The way children grow up too fast

Hi all, and although I've lived in France for over 20 years I still love England and am not one of those who, now they live here, can't think of anything better to do but smugly slag off the UK in order to get cheap brownie points from their French friends. Still, there are lots of things wrong there, like anywhere else, so here are my 5 main bugbears;

1. The trains. They're appalling. Cramped, dirty, and often late.
2. Drunks in city centres late at night. There's thousands of 'em!
3. The strange idea that people should always find something wrong with the food/service/waiter/wine if they want to appear knowledgeable about eating.
4. The decrepit social security/health system
5. Man U. (I'm from Liverpool.)

2. Being crowded, particularly in London & suburbs
3. Aggression on the roads
4. parking charges (£17.50 ! for 5 hours in a shopping centre. £17.50!!!!)
5. too much political correctness

Disagree with number three, Having just got back from the UK after not visiting for 4 years I found English drivers far nicer politer than the French counterparts back in a land where pedestrians stop look and listen.

Agree with number 5, and big time! Politically correct thought in the UK is reaching the alarmingly annoying proportions of what happens in that other country...oh..waddya call it. Ah, yes, I remember now. America...
