Default moving to france

Does anyone know of a scheme in france whereby the french government allow you to have a house for a number of years free and if you stay there the house is then legally yours.

Yes such a scheme exists, they also give you a regular income of £500 / week and a little run about car (some french make) so you you can do some shopping which is also free, they're desperate for people like you to move there.

Is this a joke? I'd be very surprised if there was any such thing!

Sorry Freda but I'm pulling your leg, maybe such a scheme does exist but what would be in it for the French government, have you heard something that put this idea in your head? Very few material things are free, you could always buy somewhere in France. Unless you're thinking about squatting

Have you looked at the French government's website? What about contacting the French Embassy in the UK (or wherever you live)?

Try the above for further information. They'd be your best bet if you think it's something to do with the French government.
