Question Malus
Hi everybody, I've just joined. Can anyone answer this question for me. I am interested in buying a 2007/8 Bmw 335i, which is 3 litre and, I believe, has emissions of around 238gm/km. If the car is 10 years old or more, am I right in thinking that it would be exempt from pollution tax?

It's a question for google rather than the forum I think - the rules keep getting tightened up when it comes to eco issues so unless a member happens to have bought/imported an old car recently, nobody will be sure of having up to date info.
You've probably found the answer by now but if not, probably the easiest way is to use the calculator on the government website https://www.service-public.fr/partic...sdroits/F19211
Hope this helps

From THIS Service Public doc F11911 which appears valid at Jan 2018, I believe the answer is that you would be liable to the malus co2 tax as the vehicle was first registered after 1June 2004.
I'd be surprised if the 335i in question was less than 15cv. If that should be the case it would put the vehicle in the 1000euro malus tax bracket. Ouch! However someone may prove me wrong with their interpretation.
If new a 335i would attract a 10500euro malus at the time of purchase.
