french bureaucracy!!
3.5 years since I left France....
3.5 years since I posted back the telepeage along with a cancellation letter. Thank god I sent it recommended with a signature on reception.
Vinci have just noticed that the abonnement hasn't been paid for 3.5 years. Funny that. So they sent me a warning email, then another, then told me it was being sent to the debt collectors.... I've emailed them back a few times, told them to get lost basically. Then another email came telling me it had been sent to the debt collectors. I tell them to stop harassing me and had they noticed that the address on the account is a US one?? I told them that I'd sue them for harassment if they continued.
This morning, another email. Telling me that they're sorry my telepeage got lost in the post and that if I go to one of their offices then they will give me another one.

Just typical isn't it! This certainly enforces the importance of sending any contract cancellation notices by recommended mail. Good for you.
As you have now informed them that you are now in USA, why not say that you'd like another card (as they suggest from their office) and could they please confirm that they will reimburse you for the flight ticket to make up for their incompetence!
