Default free wifi

Please could you let me know how to access free wifi in France.
Every time I try to connect it asks for a password or email. I have no problem in the UK with connecting to the BT fon sites.
thanks
Clive

Is that because you have BT broadband?
You could try McDonalds or free WiFi in some cafes.

Some WiFi sources that are retailers require e-mail so they can hit on you afterwards with offers. Password suggests it's a secure link you are trying to piggy-back, so you will get nowhere. You may have to live with it.

have you considered asking in the bar or wherever how to access it ??

we had a visitor trying to log on in a local bar but hit a brick wall. Asked the proprietor who freely gave him the password. Turned out the wifi wasnt working anyway, nor was the one from the computer shop across the road.
