Father Christmas delivers early this year
An English couple renovating their XVIII century home in Lot & Garonne recently discovered a hoard of 45 Spanish gold écus in a hole in the wall.
Link HERE and News video clip.
They'll no doubt be spending a very Joyeux Noël. And very nice too!
Cheers,

How does the law stand on finding it within your walls here, An old friend of mine that used to do loads of metal detecting mentioned if it was found out and about basically the state owned it. Not that I found much other than some old ish coins.

According to the article, the bounty belongs to the couple. Had they found it in the ground, it would have been the State's.
Go figure!
(About to get OH to agree to knocking our stone bergerie down, we might find le Trésor des Templiers!)

According to the article, the coins rightfully belong to the owners of the place, since it was discovered in the walls and not in the ground.
Whoops! DMU beat me to it with the reply.

You should be more ambitious: go for the Holy Grail.
