Cost of private healthcare

Re: Cost of private healthcare
Now I've had my caffeine fix, thinking about it again it does seem logical.
This year's cotisations are based on last year's income declaration, which is logical.
Last year's income declaration related to the previous year's income, which is also logical.
So in fact, it's double-logical. Does that make it extra logical, or is it like a double negative that turns it back into illogical?
Hmm. Need more caffeine to think that one through.

I'm trying to work this out now. Your first idea I think would be correct but as you say, no logic here,
My 2017 taxes are based on my 2015 earnings because my 2016 earnings aren't settled until mid 2017. So the nearest complete tax year they can go back to is 2015.
It makes no sense. All this guessing and recalculation and extra bills etc. I don't know why you just can't PAYE.
I have no idea if my taxes are up to date. If I stopped work tomorrow I don't know if I owe tax or not. I have asked my accountant and I'm not sure she is entirely certain
We don't have a top up for all health. Just hospital which is about 50e a month for 4 of us. I think full cover was something like 150e a month. But the cover wasn't great on that in termS of what you get back. We looked into this because our daughter needs a brace. But it seemed like for the extra 100e a month we could actually only claim back about 300e a year on dental or something. I really don't understand the Mutuelle very well. As for full health care without a Carte Vitale I don't know. But I imagine it's a lot. Of course this might all change with Brexit and retirement health rights etc.

LL, good to hear from you again I was wondering where you'd got to.
ET's post blew my mind too. I don't think any of us will ever be the same again!

Yes Loy Loy, nice to see your name up on the forum again. Bin a bit quiet lately.
PAYE is still scheduled to start in 2019 isn't it, or is it 2018? That'll confuse everyone for sure, well it did me, not that I'll be affected - you get a free year but you don't get a free year.
