I expect many of you will know about this, but thought others might be interested.

No, I didn't know! AFAIK, no mention on the French media and there are tens of millions of French electricity consumers who'd be interested!
I would wait until the Conseil d'Etat has ruled on the subject, before getting excited.
If this reimbursement does become possible, then Connexion should have advised enclosing an RIB in the LRAR for a direct bank transfer, much quicker than waiting for a cheque.

I am not holding my breath, believe me.

I shall be giving it a try and yes, I will enclose a RIB!

We believe word has got out because my husband was talking about it with a neighbour whose brother works for EDF. I'm sure they are trying to sit on it.

Connexion have kindly written a letter in French thgat you can copy and paste. Seems the tax, which could pay your back around €200 if you use a lot of electricity has been deemed illegal.

But it's been rumbling on quietly in the French press for a year or so, long before the EU ruling in Dec or Jan or whenever it was, eg
http://www.economiematin.fr/les-expe...re-eolien-cspe
so it's a tad bizarre why the expat community has suddenly latched onto it big time this month and rushed all their letters off to EDF and then realised that the government is in charge of taxes not EDF.
I think the French are a bit wiser and are waiting to see what the final outcome is before they get too agitated. What's the big rush? Que sera sera, if it turns out the state has to give it back then they will have to give it back to everybody.
There seems to be a lone French person asking about it on edf's facebook page

- didn't know this, nor did OH
- I doubt they will, being as they've got that massive deficit to make up. There are more electricity consumers than tax-payers.
Still, all these LRARs will bring some money into La Poste's coffers....

That is exactly what I said to Mr Bunz when he told me.

"Still, all these LRARs will bring some money into La Poste's coffers....

Well they will get it back somehow won't they?

Rightly or wrongly it hasn't been identified so far as anything of immediate interest to consumers - just another example of France and Europe getting themselves at loggerheads over what you can do and what you can't, and the fat lady hasn't sung yet.

Do you reckon? One edf bill per household and I can't think what households, apart from holiday home owners, would be paying pay edf but not tax. And even holiday home owners pay property taxes.

Loads of households are "non-imposables", i.e. their income is below the taxable level. But the same households consume electricity....
"fat lady" = Frau Merkel?

I may be wrong, but I think La Poste is like the SNCF and the like, they have separate "accounts".

I can't be the only one who's seen the latest news in today's Connexion:
http://www.connexionfrance.com/CRE-C...w-article.html
I'm afraid that all those who applied for reimbursement are in for a disappointment....

It's only "Connexion" which seems to be covering the whole affair and inciting Expats to act. There was no general interest in the French media, no doubt because the French knew it was a non-starter.
