Default B&B Taxes in France

Hi All,

Just wondered what other tax's are necessary in France other than Taxe de séjour, Contribution Economique Territoriale and Taxe d'Habition when running a B&B? Just trying to figure out if it is better to register as a Gite instead chambres d'hotes.

Any info much appreciated.

Well if you register it as a business, which I think you are obliged to do if it's more than a certain proportion of your income but if not then you have the option, your main expense is going to be social security contributions I would have thought. Not a tax exactly but quite a whack to pay out.

It seems to me that there's a big difference between a gîte where the tenants are completely independent and do their own thing and the owner isn't present, and B&B where the clients are actually chez the owner who provides breakfast.
Two different concepts, each with different rules and regulations. Surely the actual type of property will determine which category you'll come under?
