Default Animal Cruelty 24 hr line

Does France have a 24 hr emergency animal cruelty line please? My local SPA is closed mornings and not open until tomorrow PM.

As far as I know, no. If it's a real life-and-death situation for an animal, then the Gendarmerie or Commissariat in a town would be competent (in the legal sense), but "human" emergencies would take priority. Not sure whether the Mairie is competent for such problems, but you could ask for advice if it's open this morning.
Can you tell us what you've observed?

I don't know the answer to this, but would be surprised if there was a 24hr hot-line similar to that of the SAMU (15).
In extreme cases of, say a python or other undesirable serpent crawling out of your toilet bowl (it has happened in France - from an adjoining neighbour's escaped pet), one would be advised to rapidly call the Pompiers (18).
I've just looked on our 'emergency-call' notification sheet pinned inside the kitchen cabinet, and there are five emergency tel. nos for various services, but can see no emergency number for the SPA.
Have you checked on their main website, in FAQ or similar?
I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering what the specific emergency is.

I’m sure if you report animal cruelty to the gendarmerie they are obliged to do something.
If it is just a vet emergency, a call to most vets will leave a recording of out of hours services and numbers to call.

Yes +1, perhaps its Jerry beating up Tom.
Seriously I hope there is something being done; I hate to see or hear about animal cruelty

I think you local police municipal officer is the most likely to respond. It may be more likely when the animal in question is causing a disturbance. Unfortunately animal welfare seems rather low on the priority list

There isn't anything other than the SPA in your region and they do bugger all when you contact them. That's France for you. Thanks for the responses.

.... but what cruelty did you witness?
As far as I understand, the SPA is simply a refuge network, they don't send out inspectors like the RSPCA does. As stated, the Police (if you've got a Commissariat in your town) and Gendarmerie should act if they aren't dealing with urgent human problems. You can lodge a complaint with either, even if they haven't got the staff to follow it up. Shocking as it may sound, that's how it is. I, too, hate any form of cruelty to animals, but we aren't living in the UK now....

What a strange and presumably the last post from the OP’s thread, leaving us in a quandary.
