Default 7.5tonne truck to France

Hi guys,

Just wondered if anyone is coming backwards and forwards (or looked into it) from the UK in a 7.5tonne (or larger) truck and if so how they are getting it across the channel.

I am due to make a trip over with a recovery truck to my new place (Poitou-Charente region) in about a month, and at the moment i am looking at the le shuttle freight as the cheapest option (roughly £225 each way)

I have traveled Portsmouth to St Malo via car a few times before which cuts a lot of miles out on both sides of the channel but can't seem to find a large freight ferry anywhere going near that route.

Any heads up would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of freight lorries use Ouistrehem or Le Havre.
Is there some reason why this wouldn't work for you?

Cheers Cyrian,

No, both Ouistrehem or Le Havre would be better than Calais.
Do you know which company sails from there?

Don't all ferries, other than things like the discontinued hovercraft and sea-cat services, take HGVs and full-size coaches?

Brittany Ferries from Ouistreham
DFDS alias LD lines Le Havre and also Dieppe.
Newhaven-Dieppe is usually cheapest for cars and motorhomes but I have no idea about trucks.

They do Pulaski but we are around a grand and a half single way for most of the popular routes.

Newhaven-Dieppe is a good shout cheers Eurotrash, a couple of quid more to cross but saves me a few hundred miles of fuel!
