Re: imminent sat changes - what to do in NE France
Have you discovered a device called Jambox? It's a bluetooth stand-alone loud speaker that has excellent sound quality but measures only about 4" by 2" by 1". (Excuse the lack of metric but I'm foreign).
We've been using ours all the time to listen to BBC radio via iPlayer and the laptop (Mac).
Check it out.

Don't panic!
We have had these predictions before and they have never really materialised.
We were assured that, here in Provence, we would never get a freesat picture about three years ago. We put in the largest allowed parabole and it works even on HD and 3D - if that sort of thing rocks your boat.
If and when it stops working then we'll get worried - French TV/any TV is fine for a little while but then one wants to start throwing things!
Give me the radio any day and that is available on-line

Sat moved last night, BBC channels gone.
Just as the Olympics start.

Don't start me off on that.
I have been paying for the Orange TV box with my phone package for about 2 years now. Can't find anyone to get up on the roof and sort it.
The dish that we have at the moment was already up there. We just plugged in saw what we got, which was English. We are desperate to have both because the girls are missing out on conversations at school at the voice and all the like.
The problem is the roof is a good 15m high. The last specialist we had come to quote didn't fancy getting up there

we live on the village square. No chance of dishes that can be seen.
Re tuned, seems ok. BBC is a pit patchy, but if we watch a northern BBC channel i.e. BBC yorkshire, it's ok.

Nothing changed here yet.
3, sometimes 4, Sky boxes running off a quad LNB with a standard UK 'tractor seat' dish.

Sort what out? If your phone is working you've got ADSL. If you've also got an Orange TV box, why do you need someone on your roof?

Because if your speed is not good enough (+/- 8mb) you have to get TV via satellite !
