Tsunami Fund Raiser - Australia Day

I just had an email sent to me here at work regarding a fund raiser that I thought a few might be interested.

PRESS RELEASE (7 January 2005)

EXCLUSIVE MT MACEDON & MACEDON GARDENS OPEN TO RAISE MONEY FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS

At least 15 of Mt Macedon’s and Macedon’s finest gardens will be open on Australia Day to raise money for Tsunami victims.

All money raised will be given directly to Red Cross Australia’s Tsunami Fund.

Organiser Vicki Hawken says it is a rare opportunity for garden lovers to see the pick of Mt Macedon’s famous gardens in a single visit including Duneira, Durrol, Tieve Tara, Alton, Bolobek, Glen Rannoch and Hascombe. Several other gardens have not been open to the public before so it will be a special day.

“We felt that the Mt Macedon community had a unique opportunity to show their support for Tsunami victims, says Hawken.

“Never before has such a collection of gardens been open at the same time.

“Australia Day is a great time for families to spend time together and what better place to do it than in some of Victoria’s finest gardens?

Hawken continues, “We have had magnificent rain this summer, so the gardens are still looking lush. Usually gardens are open during the spring and autumn, but this is a good chance for enthusiasts to see the lovely summer personality of these gardens.
