Re: Tsunami
Sorry to be boring, but I have to justify my employment somehow!!
Yes a tsumani could hit at almost any point on the coast. Emergency Management Asutralia, and the State departments are doing a lot of research into water levels etc. Cyclones Larry, Wati and Monica, earlier this year, helped with a lot of the research,, as of course did the horrendous tsunami in Indonesia. Alerts were issued following the recent Java quake, but it was determined at a very early stage that there would be no noticeable impact on Australian coasts.
Emergency Management Queensland are carrying out a lot of exercises involing tsunamis, based in various cities along the coasts. One late last year looke at the combined effects of a cyclone and tsunami hitting Cairns (apart from the obvious effect of a lion with a ruffled soggy mane )
Useful info here
The link is to the Emergency Management Australia website - more disaster info than you can shake a stick at
Howevere if you are basing your migration plans on whether you will get hit by a tsunami, you should also take into account that if a reasonable sized one crossed the Atlantic, a fair amount of the UK would be submerged :scared:
