Pretty much anywhere in Northern Queensland mate - gun shops on the high street are common. In fact on my 2nd day here (Darwin) struggling to amass the 100 ID points the phone salesman asked if I had a gun club licence. Plenty of people I know (unfortunately) have a gun for pig and roo shooting. Deliverance.......

in all honesty,i dont think i could shoot anything, they all look at us as if were nuts when we chuck the fish back?i was talking to this aboriginal bloke on site yesterday, who was telling me how they spear fish for turtles in the northern territories,..now that would be a different story if i could talk him into taking me?

I expect you'd find there isn't much traditional about the fishing methods up there now - hence the issues over whether fishing for turtles and dugongs is damaging stocks. Having sailed around from Darwin to Cairns I've seen a lot of communities with big horsepower speed boats and very sophisticated fish finders, radar etc ...

Had a steak and kidney one tonight.

Nearly didn't though as those bloody tins are a nightmare to open. Used 2 tin openers and ended up having to yank the bloody lid off with pliers.

Agreed!!

Not all tin openers work, you need one of those cheapo $1,99 tin openers the fancy pancy ones don't even cut into it!! And a teatowel around your hand to avoid hossy visits for stitches is the way to go..........
