"There have been reports that the entire town of North Shields has been razed on a day that saw temperatures soar above 40C."

At least eight killed on peninsula

Eyre Peninsula - my country - people I know. Crops are in - eazy days but watchful. Families holidaying seaside.

Scotland braced for 100 mph winds this evening, Carlisle cut off for 2 days and people killed in the floods, bushfires in SA, landslides in California, of course far worst of all the Tsunami - lots of nasty things happening natural disaster wise in the world! Shape of things to come?

Dont drop your guard "Q" , i hope the mobil servo survived,? made great bacon &eggs, we just got back from Port Pirie , between Snowtown and Locheil the wind born smoke made driving difficult ,and we were 300km away, fantastic blood red sunset. Due to the smoke, tough people over there, most people on the radio ,just dismissing it as somthing you have to live with. the Aussie spirit will prevail ;) ................ mm

Hope everyones friends and families are ok.

We have had an evil hot day, 38 degs plus a wind that would have cooked tea if i'd have put it on the deck. Searing. The whole house is rattling and creaking with the gale, but its so strange as the A/C is on full

Been listening about it on the news all day!

All around here it's all High to Extreme fire danger as well. Don't think we had reasonable rain since Boxing day.

This weekend Yanchep National Park burned down. Even the road signs were burnt, and it'd jumped the road.
Was arson.

Yesterday when I went to the bank for work there was a fire behind it in the little bit of shrub! Fire truck was putting it out. Must've been lit too.

Hope your people are ok Megs.

Damn, conditions aren't looking good for the coming days!
