Been helping to evacuate the hospital all morning. Now back home taping my windows and taping up my bookshelves with bin bags. All pretty pointless if my roof gets ripped off...

Latest track map, note the slight movement of the track back to the southwest.....going to keep us guessing till the end

A Cyclone WARNING is current for coastal areas from Cape Melville to Sarina extending inland to Georgetown and west of Charters Towers.

A Cyclone WATCH is current for coastal areas from Lockhart River to Cape

NORTH QUEENSLAND COMMUNITIES

The Cyclone is expected to slowly intensify overnight and continue moving in a

Exactly where it makes landfall is going to be a pretty academic point I'd imagine, there will be chaos for 100s of kms around it.

Particularly to the south/south west of the system if my new-found cyclone knowledge has it right.

According to the WeatherZone guys they have a Cat 5 rated bunker ... conflicting reports as to whether they are hunkered down there or been evacuated.
