SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND, HEAVY RAINFALL and LARGE HAILSTONES


For people in the Logan and parts of the Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Brisbane and Moreton Bay Council Areas.


Issued at 3:00 pm Wednesday, 19 November 2014.

A very dangerous thunderstorm was detected on weather radar north of Boonah at 2:50pm.
This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Peak Crossing and Bundamba Lagoon by 3:30 pm and Greenbank and Redbank Plains by 4:00 pm.

Other severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Esk and northern Lake Wivenhoe. They are forecast to affect Somerset Dam by 3:30 pm and Lake Somerset by 4:00 pm.

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.


Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 4:00 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at Australia's official weather forecasts & weather radar - Bureau of Meteorology or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast

For people in the Moreton Island, Brisbane, Brisbane and parts of the Gympie, Logan, Somerset, Redland, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Council Areas.
Issued at 4:18 pm Wednesday, 19 November 2014.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:20 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Brisbane CBD, Sunnybank Hills, Archerfield, Camp Hill and the ranges south of Jimna. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Jimna, Kenilworth, Borumba Dam and Imbil by 4:50 pm and Gympie, the area northwest of Noosa Heads, the area southeast of Gympie and the area east of Gympie by 5:20 pm.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.
75mm of rainfall was recorded in 30 minutes near Redbank Plains and Inala.

For people in parts of the Ipswich, Somerset, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley and Brisbane Council Areas.
Issued at 3:17 pm Friday, 5 December 2014.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
Locations which may be affected include the area north of Toowoomba, the area south of Esk, the area southwest of Esk and southern Lake Wivenhoe.
58mm of rainfall was recorded at Goomburra in the hour to 12:30pm.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:05 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Gatton and Lake Boondooma. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. They are forecast to affect Laidley, Rosevale and Grandchester by 1:35 pm and Boonah, the area between Boonah and Beaudesert and the area northwest of Kingaroy by 2:05 pm.
Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:

* Secure loose outdoor items.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect Beaudesert, Goomeri and Kilkivan by 2:55 pm and the area northeast of Warwick, the area north of Warwick and the ranges between Gympie and Murgon by 3:25 pm.
Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Maryvale and Tangalooma. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect northern Moreton Bay, northern Moreton Island and Comboyuro Point by 8:20 pm and Redbank Plains, Wacol and Cape Moreton by 8:50 pm.

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.

Tree damage reported in the Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valley.
44mm of rain fell in 30 minutes at Currumbin Creek and at Rathdowney.
3cm hail reported at Carindale and 43mm of rain fell at Hemmant in the 30 minutes to 6.50pm.
70mm of rain fell at Emu Vale east of Warwick in the hour to 7.30pm.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 10:30 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Warwick and the area northeast of Warwick. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Maryvale, Woodford and Mount Beerwah by 11:00 pm and the area southwest of Caloundra, Peachester and Landsborough by 11:30 pm.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 11:30 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

There are also other cells around, like the one approaching Brisbane CBD/northside at present which do not yet meet the criteria for a warning.
Beware over the next couple of days, cells can pop up quickly and become dangerous in a matter of minutes.

For people in the Ipswich, Logan, Scenic Rim and parts of the Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

Issued at 4:45 pm Thursday, 18 December 2014.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Gatton and Mulgowie. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Boonah, Laidley and Marburg by 5:20 pm and Ipswich, Beaudesert and the area between Boonah and Beaudesert by 5:50 pm.

Damaging winds are likely.

A 93km/h wind gust was recorded at Oakey at 3:40pm.
An 89km/h wind gust was recorded at Wellcamp Airport at 3:35pm.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at Australia's official weather forecasts & weather radar - Bureau of Meteorology or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
