Severe Thunderstorm warning - Brisbane/SE Queensland
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND
For people in the LOCKYER VALLEY, IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM, SOUTH BURNETT and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, LOGAN CITY, DALBY, SOUTHERN DOWNS, SOMERSET, TOOWOOMBA and CHERBOURG SHIRE Council Areas.
Issued at 8:24 pm Tuesday, 1 October 2013.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Toowoomba and Oakington. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Gatton and the area west of Kingaroy by 8:55 pm and Boonah, Laidley and Kingaroy by 9:25 pm.
Damaging winds are likely.
A wind gust of 87 km/hr was recorded at Oakey at 7:48pm.
A report of wind gusts in excess of 125 km/h has been received from south of Condamine.
Emergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:25 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

Issued at 8:19 pm Tuesday, 1 October 2013.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby and Kingaroy.
An 87 km/h wind gust was recorded at Oakey at 7:48pm.
A report of wind gusts in excess of 125 km/hr was received from south of Condamine.
