Re: QLD FLOOD - Official Warning and Information
They should get it automatically, it gets sent via all the providers and if they don't have a mobile, it will come directly to the landline.

FYI - tThis is NOT related to the Emergency Alert messages sent out by Dept of Community Safety - those are based on the national phone database and you can't opt in/out of them.

Re: QLD FLOOD - Official Warning and Information
If floodwaters rise to the level of electrical equipment, stay well away to avoid the risk of electric shock. Appliances affected by water can be extremely dangerous, and in some cases they can even be fatal, so it is important that the affected item is either thrown away or checked by an authorised electrician before it is used again.
============================================
Police and members of the public around Queensland will have a difficult task with the recovery of property in flood affected areas.
Police are aware of community members contacting the information hotline wishing to recover property they have seen on news reports floating down the Brisbane River and would like to offer the following advice.
* Police are not currently allocating resources to the recovery of property from the Brisbane River, Port of Brisbane or other areas.
* For safety reasons larger items of property are being corralled, where possible, near the Port of Brisbane.
* When commenced, the recovery effort will be undertaken in conjunction with Maritime Safety Qld.
* It is anticipated that debris will be lodged at a central point and salvageable items will be on display for public to identify/collect at a later date.
* In the meantime community members may be advised to contact their Insurance Company to lodge a claim.
The QPS reiterate that community members commencing or assisting with the clean-up process around Brisbane, to exercise caution and be extra careful when removing items and cleaning up.
The waters contain large items including furniture, housing materials and garden equipment. The water also contains potentially hazardous materials including sharp objects and chemicals. There are also reports of snakes and deceased animals.
Currently there are dozens of small boats floating in the Brisbane River after being ripped from moorings. A police spokesperson further warned it was an offence to steal any property which had been washed away in the flood

Re: QLD FLOOD - Official Warning and Information
Drivers can now get all the way from Brisbane to Gladstone.
The Bruce Highway around Gympie has reopened to the south and through the heart of town, six days after floodwaters closed the national highway link.
"It's a long-distance east coast freight route which is a critical part of the supply chain to many communities in north Queensland.
"It has been cut for many days in several places 10 to 20 kms south of Gympie, blocking vital freight movements.
Minister Wallace said the Mary River had dropped quickly allowing an earlier than expect ed reopening.
