Re: Potential Heatwave - South East Queensland

STIFLING humidity and temperatures in the high 30s will create a rare, Asian-style summer swelter in the southeast this week.

The Brisbane maximum is set to peak at 38C tomorrow, the hottest February day since 2008.

Experts say humidity levels of up to 70 per cent will give residents a taste of what life is like in steamy Asian capitals such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok.

The searing conditions will continue until Thursday when the temperature will drop dramatically by 8-10C into the weekend.

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rick Threlfall said it was unlikely there would be any rain to offer relief from the sweat-inducing temperatures tomorrow.

The Sunshine Coast will reach 37C while the Gold Coast is set for a top of 36C and to the west it will be a scorching 39C for residents in Ipswich, Oxley, Laidley and Gatton.
