Had to laugh- family member outed as Australian hater
My nephew came on a WHV..sure he was going to apply for PR as soon as possible.
He worked in remote NT for a month, came to Melbourne, sat in our house less than a week and fled back to UK.
All well and good but he 'did not like Melbourne'...obviously meaning our house as that's all he saw. And he has told me that 'no-one who moves there, likes Australia, and they all want to leave'.
So can all you migrants from UK please bugger off as you are here only pretending to like it. I have my ticket booked too.

How pro-Australia, Australia is great was the OP's relative before he came ?
It makes me smile, these people that are rah - rah - rah for their destination country. Then they can't leave fast enough when the 'extended vacation' feeling ends.
Pretending to like Australia ? Apparently some of you who have emigrated to Aus, have been doing this for decades !

Yup, been pretending to love this place for the last 6.5 years.... When I obviously can't stand it.... I HATE the pool in the garden, especially when I'm floating in it with an icy cold little creatures in me hand, LOATHE the lifestyle, abhor the friendliness of the locals, dislike the taste of steaks and prawns on the Barbie ...... And pine for the company of my dear MIL, 12,000 miles away

Bet he would have had a totally different view had he mixed with my 19YO daughter and her friends. Depends on whether he can handle going out 5 nights a week I spose.
I dont think you would have got him to go back......... ever.
I've not had one person come to this house and dislike Aus.... If they like the bush I send erm up to my BiL's station out back of Goondawindi.
Then there's my weekly charcoal based BBQ's and Rottessiries with my football mates and rest of the crew...... 3 languages spoken at those sometimes...4 if you include piiisssseeeddddd.
Always, always always, mix with the locals in your peer group
