Very scary indeed. I have friends in both places and really hope that they're safe. Homes can be replaced, but people cannot.

How do you figure that one ? Its the weekend!


The one in Herne Hill has been going since about 9.30pm last night.

I can see 5 separate smoke plumes from my patio. Fortunately for me they are all at least 8kms away - Hoping the wind turns SE cos even though that would put it coming towards me it would also put it back on itself or into JF National Park which had large parts burnt out last November. Praying for all the people currently in the path of the fires.

The ground is just sooooo dry up here.


Last weekend cyclone preparations, this weekend bushfire preparations!!!!

Hopefully this weekends preparations end up being as unnecessary as last weekends

I'm watching the smoke from the Herne Hill fire, the FESA website updates has had it tracking NW all day but so far it is still reasonably far enough away.

Is there a fire map like they have for NSW and Vic do you know? My interest is sort of professional not voyeuristic.

3 of the smoke plumes seem to have died away and the other 2 are definately not as large, plus the wind (whilst still NW) has died down considerably and the smoke appears to be clearing.

Fingers crossed that the worst of the Herne Hill fire is over.

Hope the other areas are also OK.

I wonder how it looks to the planes going overhead?
