Australia is now part of Europe
Thw EU is currently arranging for enough tugs to tow Australia to just off Lands End, well they must be going to do someyjong like that, how else will they qualify to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. It will be the first time Australia has taken part in the 60 years of the concert
No it's not April 1st, it's actually going to happen.

It's hardly a diplomatic incident given the artistic standards and the voting is rigged anyway.

Thus there is no point trying to push an kind of decent music towards it - what would be the point?
I see it as a tourism possibility mainly - pushing the idea of visiting Australia to the European market. Thus good looking, bikinis, and light banal pop.
Either that or Rolf Harris.....

Eurovision has always been a joke, musically. Anything good that turns up there, turns up by accident.

And we did introduce River Dance to world in one which then didn't stop tapping it's feet for about 15 years. Maybe it's still going.
And then Jedward happened. Sorry about that.

Excuse me but Ireland was winning it when it was cool. Not cool I guess but not as naff or camp.

The rest of it was/is banal (specifically INCLUDING the irish wins).
So forget it as musical contest. From a European perspective it's a chance to laugh at the neighbours and piss them off - unless you are gay in which case its an opportunity to act camp.
For Australia it's basically a musical tourism leaflet.

As I say, anything good turning up there was basically by mistake. Those were the only two good mistakes over the many decades involved.

Which is daft, coz it would be fun to see it held on a beach in the morning sunshine, whilst people in Europe were in the cold and dark.

By the mercy of NKVD Order No. 00389 you have been unanimously found guilty by a jury of your peers in absence Comrade Vim and chosen for immediate resettlement to the salt mines of Karolya. Further descent by democratic capitalist sympathisers will also be dealt with swiftly and fairly .

Yu lot are forgetting the mighty Johnny logan and Bucks Fizz, it's brilliantly shite and I think Australia has a lot to offer. It's a bloody shame that land down under and tie me kangaroo down have already been released, both of em dead set winners.
