Why you shouldn't drive over bridges affected by floodwater.....

We are only 20 mins from maleny and the rain guage cant keep up, its 140mm and he tipped it out twice yesterday, so gawd knows how much it didnt catch as it was full. I went out yesterday afternoon and when we came back it had collected over 40mm in 2 hours.

On weather channel this morning they were saying this el nino wont break up till winter I hope they are wrong, were not flooded, up too high, but its just the constant damp from months of rain, and its not cold rain where you can heat the house to dry it out, just mouldy and moist, awful.

Anyone reading this in SE Queensland - please don't travel unless you have to, and be prepared to have to turn back. Gympie, Woodford, Kilcoy all cut off. Bruce Highway cut in at least three spots south of Gympie. Numerous landslides and creeks flooding across roads, including Camp Crossing Rd/Samford, Maleny-Landsborough, couple near Palmwoods. Tin Can Bay and Rainbow Beach Road closed. Warrego Highway still shut at Jondaryan.

Best source of up to date road info is 612 ABC Brisbane; Queensland Polcie Service on twitter and Facebook are also very good..........

Stay safe

It has the feeling of relentlessly moving South too, it's Bognor out there.

I am going nowhere today.

On the upside, the bushfire danger is quite low ...

We were directed across a flooded bridge by QPS as we we're coming home from Inskip yesterday, made my arse nip as I've seen how bad they can be. Officer said "stick to the middle & go slow" Many were just turning around & heading back. Not an option for us as the beer esky was dry & the food one had very little left inside.
Whilst listening to the local radio there was a caller [ABC Coast FM] from Maryboro' that has excellent photo's of a large Croc at one of the ponds that backs onto the Mary River.
We're going to attempt to buy bread & milk, that's like going into battle as there appears to be panic buying at the supermarkets with some women buying 20 loaves at a time. I'll settle for a coffee at the cafe & watch the ensuing panic as shoppers joust each other with French sticks for the last loaf of mighty white.

I've been to Bognor once and it hammered down for the entire weekend.

I was inexplicably staying at the Butlins resort (it was cheap, I was not in full control of my mind) and the chalet was awash.

Bugger Bognor as someone royal once remarked.

This doesn't sound right to me. Bognor is one of several places that claims to be "The Sunshine Capital of Britain", so you must have been there on a rare wet weekend. Yes, you had obviously lost your mind to be staying at Butlins

I was there for a week in June, and yes, it was sunny every day, unlike Queensland over the last 6 months.
