Default Flood Maps for the Gold Coast

I found this whilst I was in a mild state of panic the other day.....thought I'd post it in case it was of interest to anyone.

Oh look where the multi million dollar pads are...... OK a generalisation but I've never understood the idea that water views were the optimum location. Nice much of the time but to build or buy on a flood plain is daft. However not everyone can live on top of a hill so they have to go somewhere.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we stay a dry island surrounded by water, what with Brisbane, St George, North NSW and the ocean, that's what it feels like.

For info - we were told yesterday that Moreton Bay Reg Council does not yet have maps like the Bris and Gold Cst ones, so please could people stop ringing the council asking for them!!

Interesting, thanks, I can only see the table of contents on my iThing but I'll check out the full version A veritable feast of disasters, should be mandatory reading for all immigrants!

Funny you should say that. I first printed it out in the UK about 7 years ago when we were deciding where to go. We'd already experienced floods, earthquakes and a hurricane and wished to minimise the chance of repeating said experiences.
