That guy was Campbell Newman, just a few months ago he was defending the decision to release millions on of litres from Wivenhoe, at the time there were calls for the water storage to be increased and flood capacity to be reduced.

Wivenhoe is filling up fast and king tides are expected next week so I expect all 5 gates will be now open again. High tide is 1.30pm Tuesday.

Yeah all gates are open apparently, which will add to the flooding downstream.

I think at around 225% its full full.

Somerset which flows into wivenhoe is already over it's flood capacity so will be spilling the whole time I guess...inflows will continue for days as well so no option but to keep those gates open.

Add Bardon to that list. Usual parts already flooded over the road next to Bowman Park.

2 sydney harbours (one million megalitres) per day now flooding into the wivenhoe catchment !!!

For those who don't know this is the main Brisbane River (and surrounding creeks) catchment.

This is looking a little worrying for Brisbane now...

Yep, son wants me to buy loads of food at the shops tomorrow as he's scared he's going to starve if I don't get there before Wednesday.

I've sent emails to mates with families in the Dalby, Chinchilla, Toowoomba areas tonight wishing them all the best for their family members' safety. A lot of my friends are originally from those areas and I catch up with their families at parties and stuff and it's horrible watching the news and thinking that any of them could be involved.

It's not one of those things that can be called unfortunately. Normally you'd say it would be gradual but as we saw today in Toowoomba, shit happens in a blink of an eye and is very difficult to predict.

We're at the top of a ridge but obviously to get anywhere we have to get to the bottom first so even if the house is safe, doesn't mean that we are when out and about. The ground is so sodden who knows what will happen if a river breaks it's banks.

Stay safe people and don't be daft.
