Say it as it is
Do we?
No, generally I don't think we do.
Look at the forum for instance. Those considered on the edge like Amazulu and Grayling tend to say what they want irrespective of backlash. Yet are they really on the outer extremes? I think not.
Decorum may rule the majority but I'm sure both have many who agree with their views but don't necessarily voice their feelings.
So are we Wusses?
I love them both BTW
They can't help being half wrong, half of the time.

Right now I'm thinking 'Almost time for lunch' so I guess in this instance I did say what I was thinking.
I'm not sure if there is evidence if people saying something other than what they think on here. Maybe you could provide some examples of where you have seen it?

I do tend to fairly rapidly go "there's no getting through to this blockhead, I'm out" - but I'll put my PoV (the right one ) forward when needed.
Mind, I also sometimes play the devils advocate when people aren't really considering the ramifications as well - usually when some far right nut has forgotten the whole 'society' aspect.
In short, my stock of 'holding my tongue' is held in reserve for face-to-face meetings.

WYSIWYG
it was believed by a certain person who shall remain nameless ..that 'in my day' I only ever posted drunk..... he now knows I am like this sober
I would HATE to think anyone thought otherwise

I post as I am in RL. I endeavour to be polite, forthright when required, but still respecting the right others have to their opinions (even if they are quite obviously wrong ).
Treat others as you wish to be treated.

You're all a pack of wankers, except for Eddie, she's lovely, and Rasen and Kym, would never call a lady a wanker.

Could be wrong, unlikely obviously but I think people hold back far more now than they used to. We went through a stage when very sensitive flowers complained constantly about how others 'talked/typed' that it's put people off and they tend to think 'oh sod it I can't be arsed' and just say what they believe and be prepared to discuss/argue their point without resorting to aggressive and/or rude comments.
