Bushfire WATCH AND ACT for Brabham in the City of Swan

A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people in Brabham in the City of Swan.


• The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as the fire in Whiteman Park is burning towards homes in the area.
• This alert covers an area bounded by Lord Street, Park Street, Murray Road and Woollcott Avenue.
• There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing.
• You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.
• The fire is burning in Whiteman Park, near the train museum and is burning towards Lord Street.


BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
• The bushfire is moving fast in a north easterly direction.
• It is out of control and unpredictable.
• Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home.


WHAT TO DO:
• If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
• There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
• If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.
• Do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. If you have access to a water tank and plan to defend your home, start patrolling with your hose and put out spot fires.
• If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.


SAFER PLACE:
• Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area.


SAFEST ROUTE:
• If you live in the area leave in a northern or eastern direction away from the fire.


ROAD CLOSURES:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site
Lord street has been closed between Park Street and Harrow Street.


WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
• Approximately 55 career and volunteer firefighters are on the scene.
• Firefighters are working to contain and control the fire.
• Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews.


EXTRA INFORMATION:
• The fire was reported at 1.11pm today.
• The cause of the fire is unknown.
• People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
• DFES is managing the fire.

Bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING for parts of Brabham and Henley Brook in the City of Swan

A bushfire EMERGENCY WARNING has been issued for people in parts of Brabham and Henley Brook, bounded by Lord Street, Henley Street, Murray Street and Woollcott Street, in the City of Swan.

• You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes.
• Homes bordering Whiteman Park and under threat by fire now.
• The fire started in Whiteman Park and is burning on both sides of Lord Street, close to homes near and between Charlton Way and Park Street, in Brabham between .
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
• The bushfire is moving slowly in a north easterly direction.
• It is out of control and unpredictable.
• Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home. Spot fires are starting ahead of the fire.
WHAT TO DO:
• If the way is clear, leave now for a safer place.
• Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute is deadly.
• There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
• If your plan is to stay and actively defend, do not rely on mains water pressure as it may be affected. If you have access to a water tank and plan to defend your home, start patrolling with your hose and put out spot fires.
• If you cannot leave, you need to get ready to shelter in your home and actively defend it.
• If you are not at home, it is too dangerous now to return.
SAFER PLACE:
• Your safest option may be to visit family or friends who live away from the area.
• The Deparment for Child Protection and Family Support has also set up an evacuation centre at the Altone Park Recreation Centre, on Benara Road in Beechboro.

• There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing.
• You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.

• If you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.
• There is ember attack ahead of the fire, so close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners, but keep water running through the system if possible.
• If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now

ALERT LEVEL:
A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the southern parts of Ellenbrook
• Although there is no immediate danger for people in these areas you need to be aware and keep up to date.
WHAT TO DO:
• Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
• Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
• Read through your bushfire survival plan.
• If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.
A number of roads have been closed including:
• Lord Street between Park Street and Harrow Street.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
• Approximately 100 Firefighters are on the scene.
• Firefighters are protecting homes and working to control the fire.
• Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews.

Reports this morning so far are that its been downgraded to Advice level but the fire is not yet contained and air support will be returning this morning.
