Bushfire alert for Karnup, Baldivis, Golden Bay and Secret Harbour, Rockingham
Bushfire Emergency Warning for Fletcher Road between Karri Street and Stakehill Road Karnup Wednesday 1 December 2010 – 7:00 PM
A bushfire emergency warning has been issued for people in Fletcher Road between Stakehill Road and Karri Street in Karnup.
The fire is burning between Mandurah Road, Stakehill Road and Fletcher Road.
There is a threat to lives and homes. You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
WHAT TO DO:
* It is too late to leave, you need to take shelter in your home and actively defend it.
* Take shelter inside furthest away from the fire front and make sure you can easily escape.
* It is best to shelter in a room with two exits and a water supply such as a kitchen or laundry.
* You must seek shelter before the fire arrives as the very hot radiant heat will kill you well before the flames reach you. Protect yourself with long sleeves, long trousers and strong leather boots.
* Only if your home catches on fire and the conditions inside become unbearable, get out and go to an area that has already been burnt.
* Do not leave in a vehicle or on foot as this is deadly.
A bushfire WATCH AND ACT has been issued for people in:
· the southern part of Baldivis between Sixty Eight Road, Mandurah Road, Stakehill Road and Baldivis Road.
· the eastern part of Port Kennedy between Port Kennedy Drive, Secret Harbour Boulevard, Mandurah Road and Surf Drive.
There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching the area and conditions are changing. You need to leave – act immediately, do not wait and see.
