Default Azerbaijan Package Advice

I am in the process of negotiating a package for a role with a developer in Baku Azerbaijan, any feedback or advice appreciated esp from those who work or visit there. Getting cost of living advice is difficult.

On the table is around 10,00 USD a month plus

Accommodation
Health Cover
Schooling for 2 Kids
Relocation
Car

I think I will have to pay 20-30% in tax but they where a bit vague on this point.

This is a better deal than I am on now but the cost of living is a big unknown.

Thanks

Hi there,

did you ever move and could you recommend what we should be careful of in the package?

Many thanks

You will pay tax most likely. My previous company had a consultancy gig there and at the end we were stuck with a surprise tax bill.

Why would people not know where they're planning on moving to? Vaguely fundamental I'd have thought.

Thank you for the few useful answers. For the not so useful ones, I will point out that I posted on a Baku thread.....do I know/care where the original thread was? not really, just wondering whether those people ever went.

So again, thank you for the helpful answers and to the other ones, I am sure that there is better use of your time...

Just pointing out that, since most people agree that Azerbaijan is NOT a Middle Eastern country, you might get better and more detailed responses in another forum.
