Default Health insurance

I am moving in March to Greece but won't be starting work until sometime in may. Is it best to get private health insurance up until the point of starting work when I will be covered by the Greek health care? I looked into travel insurance but not sure this is the way to go as says I need to be a permanent resident in the UK. Can anyone shine a light with your experiences. I did get a new Ehic card which came today but also expires on the 31st of march by that time I will already be in Greece.

Hi, I don't think there are many BE members in Greece, but from what I read on the other forums, EU countries require private healthcare coverage if you're not a State Pensioner or working (legally!). The EHIC card is only valid for tourists.

Do you have any recommendations on insurers? It seems quite expensive for the quotes I have received already. I literally only need from March to middle of may until I would start work

Sorry, I can't help, I live and used to work in France, and have always been covered by the French Social Security. You could ask on another country forum (e.g. Spain) to recommend an international insurance company which covers inactive expats while waiting to find a job.
