Wife and daughter just received their approval for their extension of another 30 months leave to remain. First thing they did was thumb through their passports to see the new visa and make sure the dates were correct. They were horrified when they couldn't find anything other than the original 30 months one given for Entry to the UK.
The entered the UK just prior to the new Biometric Residents Permits were issues and so should be getting their first one in a few days.
Am I right in thinking that its this permit you have to take with you to travel outside and back into the UK (along with your passport), and show for any job etc - and that there really shouldn't be anything new added to their passports?
Thanks

Yes, a BRP replaces the need for a vignette in your passport. It's vital to carry both your passport and BRP when travelling in and out of the UK but it acts as a standalone proof of residence/right to work/identity when in the UK. My better half carries hers in her purse next to her driving licence and NINO card.
