UK Police Record and other daft questions...
Please help!
Myself and my US wife are about to submit the I-130, G-325A and I-864 along
with marriage certificates, photos, etc etc. It may be me being stupid, but
I note everyone on here talking about Police certificates. At what point
does this need to be provided? I've seen absolutely no reference to it on
any official form or website thus far....
Also while I'm asking stupid questions...
- is the I-864A simply a second submission of the I-864 from a co-sponsor?
- where it asks for 'Name and address of current employer' (Item 15 on
I-130), is that mine (the aliern relative) or my wife's (the US citizen)?
Thankyou for your patience!

Re: UK Police Record and other daft questions...
Hi Mark. My UK husband and I are going through the same process at the
moment. When we consulted with our lawyer and the INS office, we were
told that he does not need Police certificates because he is already
here. I *believe* Police certificates are only necessary when filing for
a K-1 or K-3 and you are not in the US yet. Someone please correct me if
I'm wrong.
Yes, the I-864A is for the co-sponsor to fill out. If you don't need a
co-sponsor, don't worry about it.
And item 15 on the I-130 is for HER employers name and address.
Good luck!

Hi.
The police report is not needed until you go for your interview.
The I-864A is used for 2 purposes, for example:
1/. If the US citizen cannot meet the 125% poverty guideline and the foreign "spouse" is using his/her assets to make up the difference.
2/. If a co-sponsor is needed e.g parents of US citizen. In this case the I-864A is needed if both parents are acting as joint co-sponsors. It is effectively a contract between both parents agreeing to jointly co-sponsor.
I'm afraid I can't remember the answer to your name and address question, I'm sure someone will help.
I hope this makes sense.
good luck
