Default UK based Man, traveling to US, Marrying US Woman, Return to UK to Live

Dear all,

My name is Graham, UK citizen living in the UK. I would appreciate anyone
being of any guidance.

I am hoping to travel to the USA, marry my US citizen finacee, then apply for
her Spouse Visa in person at the LA office (she lives in texas), and return
to live in the UK.

Has anyone been through this? Can we acheive this in just one visit for me.
How long should we leave between being married and applying for the spouse
visa. Should we apply in person to the LA office. Would we be issued the
spouse visa the same day? Can we then travel straight away back to the UK?

It looks as though the 2 forms we need to complete are IM2a and IM2B? Could
anyone confirm this as being correct.

Do you think that 1 month would be a sufficient length of visit to complete:
me arriving in US, applying for marriage license, getting married, traveling
to LA, having the spouse visa appointment, leaving for the UK.

I am currently in the process of gathering all the documentation necessary to
support my fiancee's spouse visa application - and would welcome anyones
comments about the process, and the pitfalls involved.

With thanks in advance of your guidance.

Regards,
Graham

Hi Graham.

Yes, it's pretty straightforward and assuming all your documents are in order, you can get a visa issued the same day. One thing we discovered we needed was that our marriage certificate had to be a certified copy from the records office where you get married. We were at the Chicago consulate and had to drive back to Indy to get our certified copy!

Leave enough time between your planned trip to LA and any flights back home in case there's something you overlooked.

In case you're wondering, we married in Indy, moved to the UK and 15 months later moved back to the US! I was in the US for about a month the first time and our problem was not leaving enough time between getting married and flights home. Thankfully we still made it on-time to our honeymoon destination.

Hi Graham

Check out the visa and immigration board at www.uk-yankee.com

The board is full of mostly Brit/Yankee couples who have done just this.

Dear James,

Good evening. Thank you so much for your guidance. I can't tell you how
appreciated it is.

I have been told that I can enter the US on a regular visitor Visa VWF that
you fill out on the plane, and get married once I arrive. Do you have any
experiance of this?

With kindest regards,

Graham
