Spouse Visa to ILR
Hi there,
Second question after my previous post here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/citiz...stions-904878/
My mother lives on the Isle of Man, and has suggested we might be able to find good job opportunities on the island.
If we applied for a spouse visa for the UK, lived in the UK but then decided to move to the IOM for a while, would living in the IOM count towards the spouse visa period?
Say we move to England but after 6 months want to live on the IOM. After 2 more years we would have to renew our spouse visa for the UK again. We reapply, and then hopefully its granted. After that, and we want to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, would that be granted to us or would they see living in the Isle of Man as not living in the UK?
I'm pretty sure I know the answer and can say they would consider it us not living in the UK and either a) Not renew our spouse visa b) say we havent been living in the UK for 5 years and not grant us ILR.
Just thought I'd check, just in case.

Have a look at the link below for some information to start with -
https://www.gov.im/categories/travel...e-isle-of-man/
Since your mother is living on the Isle of Man, can she not go and ask for information regarding IOM's visa from the government there?

In short, no it doesn't, not at least for spouse visas.
