Hi,

I applied for a settlement visa back in November, I processed all the payments via paypal and got a confirmation email from the UK visa saying payment had been made. However no money ever came out of my account. I wondered if collection for payment of the visa occurs once a decision has been made? Can anyone elaborate on this with their experience?

I also got an email confirming that I had paid for the health surcharge, again no money came out of my account.

In Feb I got an email from the immigration department asking me to pay the surcharge, which I did, even though I had a confirmation previously for this.

I worry that the immigration service payments system was not working in for paypal which is holding up my application.

Payment is always the first thing that happens. No-one will touch your application without it having been paid for.

So I assume the only thing I can do it escalate the application to them citing I have not had payment taken from account.

Frustrating because I received all the confirmation emails citing payment had been made.

I would double check your account. I can’t imagine you would been able to give biometrics without confirmation of payment.

I have seen both spouse visa settlement applications that are made from both inside and outside the UK.

When it is made outside the UK, the payment is made at the START. It is done as part of the online visa4uk website.

When it is made inside the UK, (ie FLR(M) application) you provide the payment details, which are usually taken long before the official decision is made.
