i believe it is much easier, us brits tend to let anyone into the country, i know they can stay 6 months on their entry, but they cannot work, hope this helps

Bearing in mind you are not married yet, your boyfriend's options to move to the UK legally may be somewhat restricted.

You have not stated his nationality. If he holds a Commonwealth country's citizenship and is under a certain age, I believe he may be able to get some kind of short term working visa.

However, it's best to check the site above. It's a government website.
