EEA Family Permit
Hello fellows,
I'm non-EU parter of a Dutch wife. I have a Job offer, and I understand that I need to apply to the EEA Family Permit.
Questions:
1) I'd like to go first, and then after I settle, she goes in about 3 months. Can I do it, or do I really need to travel together with her? Or can a letter be enough?
2) After how long can I apply to the Residence Card, and how long it is taking to be ready?
Thanks!

Re: EEA Family Permit
An EEA Family Permit for you would rely on your wife exercising her treaty rights in the UK. The fact that you have a job offer is irrelevant. As such you couldn't live in the UK without her. She would need to be in the UK already or travelling with you in order for you to move to the UK.
Once you arrive in the UK you can apply for your EEA Residence Card immediately. Providing your wife can demonstrate she is working, looking for work, self-employed, studying or self-sufficient then it should be issued without a problem. Legally it must be issued with six months of application. Anecdotally they are taking around three months to be issued at the moment.
