Do I need to apply for british citizenship before getting a first UK passport for kid
Hi,
I was born in England and lived there until 10 years ago. I have had 3 children whilst living in Australia. I would like to get them British passports. Does anyone know if I can apply for a passport straight away for them through Aus Post/online passport application at Gov.uk or whether I need to first register the children as British Citizens using Form MN1?

You've not given enough information to give an informed answer.
When were you born? When were your children born? Are you the father or mother? If you are the father were you married to your children's mother when they were born?

I am a British citizen (born in England in 1978 to British parents). My husband is an Australian citizen. We were married at the time the children were born.
The children were born in Australia. The oldest was born in 2007.

In that case all your children are already British by descent and you merely need to apply for their passports.
