This is the reply I got today "Your application will take at least 8 months from when it’s received by Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK. This is a guideline and not a definitive turn a round. As soon as all the necessary examination checks have been completed the passport will be issued. We do not have an estimation of exactly when this will be.

Have you had a reply like this befor?

I think that was the advice you got from Brit in Paris last year. How many times have you contacted them for an update?

Yes, that can be “normal”.

How many times do you need us to tell you so? You were told “at least” 8 months. For some countries it can take years.

You might not - or probably won’t - hear anything unless and until the application is approved, or requires further information.

Please don't shout

Countries with recognised high levels of corruption and document forgeries take longer to clear security checks.

And to be honest we can't complain, when it's our corrupted government's fault, but we have to pay for it.
