Default Safety deposit box searching Hong Kong?

The challenge...

Banks in Hong Kong are apparently glutted with requests for boxes. Customers keep them for decades, even generations. It is a no/low profit service only for customers of that branch. HQ of banks have no list of which branches have vacancies.

There are non-bank alternatives, at least two companies, but unlike Singapore they both require company registration in Hong Kong.

Conclusion: It is a major challenge for a tourist passing through Hong Kong to do the necessary research and leg work to find a box. And then the box is unlikely to be in a convenient location.

Question...

Is there a more efficient and more successful way of finding a box other than doing all the due diligence and work?

So are you a tourist looking for a short term solution, or looking for your own long term secure storage ahead of relocating to Hong Kong? If you're just a visitor but looking for long term secure storage banks may be suspicious and sceptical of your motives for needing a safety deposit box in Hong Kong.

I don't see how it's any of their business, but in my case it is because I work all over Asia and I collect tangeable portable assets. While Singapore charges no import tax for recognized brands of precious metal bars and coins, it does charge for collectible rare coins, whereas Hong Kong does not. It's called tax planning, I bank in both nations and my future may be in China.

That is why it's their business.
