Cultural differences between Hong Kong and Great Britain
I have just read the article posted on this site. Having grown up in UK (oh sorry I mean Great Britain !!) and having lived and worked in Hong Kong for almost half my life (including pre- handover and post hand-over) in my view the article is a complete and utter load of boll***ks. Wearing too much black or white would be considered offensive... what utter tosh !!!!!!
Anyone else have an opinion ?

How do you 'create' a dating event do you think? Beats me.

I was a police inspector in charge of Tai O sub division in the bad old days.
All this cultural stuff is out of time. Just being polite and considerate is enough. The old wearing of a green hat was joked about by both expats and Cantonese alike.
There are loads of superstitions but nobody takes them that seriously, except maybe fung sui when locating a nice burial spot for your grandad.
Even the myth of the warming effect of dog meat was admitted by villagers as due to the sudden surfeit of meat in January when it is (a bit) cold.
All that was 40 years ago so nowadays....?

Speed dating?, seems to be all the rage on Eastenders and Corrie. Remember that the thoughts and ideas in the articles are not the policy or thoughts of British Expats, just a personal view by someone, just as all the posts on BE are.

I lived in Hong Kong many years ago and I remember that white was considered the colour of mourning.
